The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) has issued an air pollution health advisory for portions of eastern, southern and southeastern Minnesota, effective Sunday, June 19 from 11a.m. through 9 p.m. The affected area includes the Twin Cities Metro, Albert Lea, Forest Lake, Mankato, Owatonna, Red Wing, Rochester, Winona and Worthington.

Current information on statewide fire danger and burning restrictions is available online.
Many areas have additional local restrictions.

April 15 2016 much of the state had high to very high fire danger. Southwest Minnesota was considered extremely high.

"SAINT PAUL – The number of solar jobs in Minnesota more than doubled during th
e past two years and, thanks to solar-friendly state and federal policies, the job surge is expected to continue, according to the Minnesota Solar Jobs Census.

The Minnesota legislature made a law in 2014 requiring businesses, public sector, and nonprofits in the 7 county Twin Cities metro area to recycle at least 3 different types of materials starting January 1, 2016.
